Back in the water again

Monday morning and swimming laps. What a great way to start what looks to be a very busy week. Swam for about an hour today and maybe drank a little pool water...

800 meters in 20 minutes

Coach said we were going to swim for 10 minutes and see how many laps we did... He LIED. WE did 20 minutes of non-stop swim. 32 lengths and it was awesome. Then we went for a run. Is anyone else out there running.

Phelps flys

I was watching some youtube videos of Michael Phelps to see how he swims... He is amazing. I got bored just swimming freestyle in the pool this week so i'm going to ask my coach about the breast stroke. That looks kinda fun/hard/a great workout. I'll let you know how it goes.

2 days to go

Then i get a day off.
I was warming up in the pool and was really feeling my body was tired. On saturday we are swimming for 10 min and seeing how many laps we can complete. I did that today on my own and completed 450 meter (18 lengths of the pool). And it felt pretty good. I might try longer next week just for $#!%'s & giggles. I then did a few more 75's and 100's.
Then i ran 6.2 miles. What a beautiful day.

Sit and Spin

After swimming for an hour i did a spin class (an aerobic class on stationary bikes) for and hour. I must of looked like a newbie because the lady next to me was helping me adjust the bike. The instructor was telling everyone (me) if it's too much you can just sit and spin. As she realized what she had said a smile came to her face. I then had to add my two cents.

The standing parts were hard - i was unfamiliar with the bike and it felt awkward- and my leg reach lactate threshold much quicker than expected and stopped holding me up. I knew i had to keep going so i sat for 10 sec. or so and tried again. My lunges and everything else felt great. I can't wait to do it again.

Fun Times

Today's workout started with a 20 min run out and a faster run back. Followed by a swim. I also got my recommitment papers. I will have to pay the difference from the money i raise to the minimum of $2700. I have until April 5th to raise around $2000. If you are going to donate, please do, i need you to donate NOW. The training and the event are a huge challenge and to not have to worry about the fund-raising would really help.

Swimming and love'n it

I swam today at the Y. I focused on getting my head down and when i am going to breathe. I also worked on putting my arms in the water instead of may arms just going in the water and that really helped too. After my swim i went to the stationary bike and just pedaled. I was tired but it felt great to be inside on such a beautiful day.

Group Run

I ran with the group at Runner's Alley in Manchester. They do a short run and a longer run and i opted for the shorter run because i'm swimming tomorrow. If anyone is into running come on by at 6:00pm on Hanover street.

Great Workout

We had a killer swim workout on today. We did a bunch of 50m drills and then I did 4x75 and then we all did 4x50 with pool buoys so we were just using our arms no kicking. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun. Then we cooled down with more 50m drills. After that we went for a run.

Added note. I fell asleep on the couch at 7:00 woke up and went to bed at 9:30 and woke up in the morning after 7... it was a good workout.

Missed it yesterday

I was planning on running yesterday but the rain and cold kept me inside. And just not wanting to run on the treadmill kept me at my desk. And a deadline kept me busy. BUT i got out today and it felt really good. My legs were still tired and sore from lifting on Wednesday but as i starting running they warmed up and felt great. I was planning on a sorter run because I have swim at 730 follow by a run at 830 so i didn't want to do to much. I did ran a little easier and walked tons less. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)

Did Squat Today.

I did squats today. I did some weight training this morning to strengthen my legs. It felt good until i went to step up a step and my hamstrings were so fatigued that my foot didn't come up. I guess it was a good work out. I'll post more weight training details in future posts.

Intensity Up'ed

Before this run was thinking that I've been running about the same for awhile now. And my legs didn't feel like they were getting stronger. (As you've heard me whine about in previous posts.) So mapped out a shorter run and was going to run faster, even though I would need to walk. There is nothing wrng with walking. One thing i do like about walking is... in a future run i will run past a prevoius walking point and know i am getting stronger.

Group Run and Swim

Our group training time was pushed back this week from 730 swim then run to 9 run then swim. I was the only one at practice today doing the Mooseman Tri. So one of the coaches and i went for a longer run. Again my legs feel heavy and i felt sluggish. I ate breakfast (oatmeal) at 7:00 and had OJ with protein at 8:30. I think i needed more fuel. Speaking of the Powerbar is a sponsor of Team in Training and we all got a bunch of bars and recovery drinks. I'll let you know what i think of them.

We're back running.

And I'm running. Power came back on at 6pm on Sunday. Almost 4 nights without power. I didn't mind except now I am super busy with The Billerica Green making up 3 days. Fighting a nose cold for the past 3 days but it did feel good to get out and run in the fresh air. Except for the guy with the stinky stogy, and the dumpster truck leaking what can only be described as yuck, and then yet another guy with a stogy... What are the chances.
